With the weather offering us those first few fleeting glimpses of summer on the (hopefully) not too distant horizon, my thoughts have been turning to escaping for the summer. And of course all those gorgeous holiday clothes I’ll be treating myself to.
There’s something oddly satisfying about pulling all those neglected summer clothes out from the back of your wardrobe. Breathing in the lingering smell of sun cream and days at the beach, as they take pride of place in the wardrobe again. The clothes that bring back memories of fun days out with the kids or sipping cocktails with the girls. Then of course there’s the new pieces you add to your summer wardrobe, full of possibility and adventures to come.
I’m all about off the shoulder tops, so when I saw this crinkle top I just had to have it. With crochet detailing on the sleeves and embroidery on the front, it’s really pretty. It’s thin enough to wear during the heat of the summer, but it’s also perfect for spring and autumn when the weather is that little bit cooler. And if you fancy something a little brighter it also comes in red.
Another gorgeous off the shoulder top is this pretty pale blue chambray bardot blouse. I just love the tie sleeves and the colour is perfect for spring and summer. It looks great teamed with cropped jeans and sandals or flip flips. Definitely the ultimate in laid back summer style.
And of course what would a summer wardrobe be without a new swimming costume? I just love this Magisculpt Classic Swimsuit in ocean blue. The colour is beautiful. I always wear black swimming costumes. Infact I can’t remember the last time I owned a swimming costume that wasn’t black. But this one caught my eye and I thought what the hell. The cups and stomach are ruched so they hide a multitude of sins. Exactly what you want after having kids or if you’re carrying (several) extra pounds. With padded cups and adjustable straps it also keeps ‘the girls’ firmly under control. Something us plus size gals definitely need when we’re in the pool.
In the interest of a full and thorough review I even braved the sub zero temperatures of the pool to test it out properly. It was my first swim of the year and despite the pool being FREEZING, it soon warmed up. Allowing me to put my gorgeous new cossie well and truly through its paces. It’s comfortable, the straps don’t fall down while you swim and I fell in love with that beautiful bright blue even more. Now I can’t wait to get back in that pool!
Next on my list – new summer shoes!
