Still Me, Coco and East 17 #littleloves

It’s been a while since I last took the time to share my #littleloves. Its been a funny few weeks with yet more teenage tantrums, relocation woes and the Mr working away every few weeks. I guess some weeks you really can’t see the wood for the trees and it’s that bit harder to pick out the things that have made a week that bit more enjoyable. But I’m determined to move forward, recording those little things that make life a little more enjoyable no matter what it’s throwing at you at the time.

So without further whining, here’s this week’s #littleloves:

Read

Still Me

I ordered Still Me, the latest instalment in the Me Before You series by Jojo Moyes before Christmas and was thrilled when it arrived on its release date yesterday. I’ve been dying to get my hands on it since I read the first chapter on a review site a few months back. Needless to say, I’ll be devouring it over the weekend.

On my kindle is The Hygge Holiday. It’s like a hug in a book. Following Clara as she stumbles across a pretty but forgotten village while on her travels through the English countryside. She seizes the opportunity to help turn a small local business around and manages to have quite an effect on the village and its inhabitants as her Danish influence takes hold. I’m about 2/3 of the way through and already it has me taking the time to appreciate the little things that bit more. Everyone needs a little hygge in their life after all.

Watched

We watched Coco this week. And I must admit to crying on numerous occasions – hey, it’s one of those films! It’s such a sweet story, full of wonderful lessons about family and keeping memories alive.

I also watched the moody teen get behind the camera at a college we looked at this week. She had decided upon 6th form, but it seems college is more appealing at the moment and after having a look around and chatting to some of the students, she seems to really like it. Who knows what she’ll end up deciding upon by the time September comes around, but at least she’s exploring all of her options.

Made

A post shared by Kat (@katslimmingworld) on

I ‘made’ the decision (see what I did there) to join Slimming World at the beginning of the month and 3 weeks later I’m 9lb down. I’ve been enjoying cooking up a storm in the kitchen and trying to find new ways to include fruit and veg in my diet. I’m the biggest fruit and veg dodger you’ll ever come across, so the fact that I cooked this huge bowl full of crispy kale (aka crispy seaweed – it’s just like the one you get at a Chinese takeaway) yesterday is a bit of a miracle. It was seriously good though and so cheap and easy to make.

Wore

I haven’t worn either yet, but I treated myself to a new pair of black pinstriped trousers and some new trainers this week. I’ve been wearing the same comfy old pair of trainers for years so it was definitely time for a new pair.

Heard

I was watching Derry Girls the other day and heard the beginning of Deep by East 17. Of course I couldn’t help but have a listen on YouTube. It was released when I was 12 (I feel about 100 now) and I thought I was so cool listening to their Walthamstow album on my walkman (now I feel even older – please tell me you all know what a walkman is or I may aswell book my slot in the graveyard right now).

And lastly…

I’m off to see the little dude’s assembly this morning. It’s the first one parents have been invited to and it’s a celebration of their work so far this year. He is so excited and can’t wait for me to watch it. So far he’s let slip that he’s doing a little song about the Arctic, which is the latest project his class are working on.

This weekend is likely to be another quiet one. The Mr is working abroad again next week, so we’ll no doubt be staying close to home and preparing for his trip. But at least that gives me plenty of time to read my new book – silver linings and all that!

Have a great weekend whatever you get up to.

I’m with you on the walkman ! my cousin was that obsessed with East 17 she painted their logo on her bedroom wall. It’s great that your teen is exploring all options, my eldest boy opted for college instead of 6th form and really enjoyed it. Have a lovely weekend x #WotW

Ha ha the dog! Wasn’t that Tony Mortimer’s dog? I clearly know wat too much pointless info about East 17! She’s painfully shy, so was thinking 6th form would be better as she’d be somewhere she already knows and surrounded by friends. But she loved the college and seems to be leaning towards that now. We’ve got one more college to see and then it’s decision time x

Oh I need to read this book too having read the first two. You will have to tell me what you think. Can’t beat a bit of Hygge too. I have been doing slimming world while pregnant as it’s not restrictive at all and I can eat lots of foods as much as I want and it’s helped me so much not to gain too much extra weight and just the baby weight I need. I am hoping to keep going so when I have the baby I have an easier guideline to get back on track. Good luck. Have a nice weekend. #bumpsbabies

I was doing Weight Watchers before Christmas, but ‘accidentally’ ate all the food and then decided to give something else a try. I loved Slimming World when I did it years ago and the weight fell off me. I’m finding it slower now I’m older (god I hate being ‘old’) but it’s coming off at least. Fingers crossed it stays that way. I’m a few chapters in on Still Me and so far so good 😉 x

Aww bless! I have been reading your posts since I’ve been quiet (as I’m a nosey cow) but have been in such a foul mood these last few weeks I didn’t want to inflict it on anyone else. Ha ha I remember going to Walthamstow when I was younger and used to stay at my nan’s in Woodfood Green and desperately hoping I’d see the East 17 boys wandering around – never did of course. x

Eek, you’re back! I’ve missed reading your posts. Hope you’re all well 🙂 I haven’t read ‘After You’ yet, nor have I watched the film adaptation of ‘Me Before You’ – I need to get a shift on really. Hope you enjoy your quiet weekend, and that your little ones assembly was lovely xx

East 17! I loved them! And yes, I too owned a Walkman, so you’re not alone in that one 😉
I need to add that Jo Jo Moyes book to my Amazon list, I really enjoyed the other two in the series.
Hope you’re having a good week so far xx

I’m only joining in with Little Loves once a month now and I still enjoy it – I was finding it a pressure to find something to write every week. Very much with you on the teenage tantrums thing, when will it ever end?! I really need Still Me in my life, I absolutely adored the last two books (more than the films). Hope the assembly was good, always lovely to hear what they’ve been upto isn’t it? Love the sound of your pin stripe trousers xx
