Having lost over 3 and a half stone recently my wardrobe is in need of a bit of a makeover, so when fashionworld.co.uk got in touch to ask if I’d like to review some of their spring/summer line I couldn’t resist.
I got the chance to review three gorgeous, but very different dresses and even the moody teen couldn’t keep her paws off one of them, as you can see from the photos.
The first dress I chose was this tie waist shirt dress, which I have rescued from the moody teen’s wardrobe twice in as many weeks. I’m not brave enough to wear it over tights as she does, but it looks just as nice over jeans or leggings. It’s comfy, you can dress it up or down, and the belted waist cinches you in where you need it.
Next up is this pretty flower print shirred sleeve smock dress and I love it. Out of all three dresses, this is the one that I’ve worn the most. It had it’s first ‘outing’ to visit the Mr’s family over the bank holiday weekend and lasted hundreds of miles and several hours stuck in the car without so much as a wrinkle. I dressed it up with heels on our recent trip to the theatre to watch Hairspray and as you can see, it joined us among the flowers for an impromptu photo shoot on a trip to a local garden’s open day this weekend too.
I’m sorry but I couldn’t resist one of the ‘classic’ fashion blogger poses. What you can’t see is me absolutely wetting myself laughing after this one was taken.
Lastly, I chose this cotton poplin Bardot dress. It’s a little out of my comfort zone, but I love it. I’m a huge Bardot neck fan. My wardrobe is literally stuffed full of Bardot neck tops and dresses. The only problem is, they no longer fit me. So this dress is a welcome addition to my wardrobe. Perfect for those warmer days, I can see this one getting a lot of wear over the summer – if the sun sticks around of course.
Do ignore the setting of this photo (and the moody look on my face), I wore this gorgeous dress out to afternoon tea for my sister’s birthday before heading to the beach with the teen for a bit of a photo shoot. Queue the clouds coming over and it being so dark the photos were pretty much just silhouettes. Of course, as I write this the following day, it’s lovely and sunny, but with no one to snap any photos of me wearing it, we just went with whatever we could get that night.
One thing that did make the dress even better was the addition of this cute little ‘accessory’. While the teen and I were snapping away he declared he could make the photos look even more beautiful And indeed he did.
I’m under no illusion that I’m no model. And I am seriously camera shy. But having dropped a few dress sizes, I really enjoyed messing around among the flowers, on the beach and even at home with my two crazy kids to take these photos. I have more weight to lose. But for the first time in a long time there’s a glimpse of the happy, confident girl I once was. So thanks to Fashion World for giving me the perfect excuse to actually enjoy getting new clothes for a change and to have a little fun along the way. Here’s to dropping another dress size or two!
