Happy Friday #littleloves crew! What a weird week it’s been. I know I said I was cold and not used to these ridiculous sub-zero temperatures last week, but this week’s take the biscuit. How COLD has it been! Did England somehow get dragged towards the arctic circle while I lived abroad? I’m sure I don’t remember it being this cold when I was a kid. Snow yes. This cold, no. Maybe it’s because I’m ‘old’ and just feel the cold more. Who knows, but for the goodness sake isn’t it supposed to be March. Aka Spring. Aka the month it starts warming up a bit.
Anyway, enough moaning about the cold. I bet you’re all fed up of it too by now. And onto my #littleloves for the week:
I caved. I had to buy it after seeing EVERYONE raving about it on their #littleloves last week. I couldn’t resist when I was in Sainsbury’s yesterday, the book or the succulent while we’re on the subject of the long list of things I ‘couldn’t resist’ in Sainsbury’s yesterday – I only went in to buy a hat – there were none! I’m 3 chapters in and I must say I’m kind of confused. It’s all kinds of weird. Is it supposed to be all kinds of weird or am I missing something? It’s in the car anyway, it’s my new school run book for when I’m sat freezing in the car 45 minutes before school kicks out just to be able to park (how I wish I lived within walking distance).
I really need to watch Save Me and Benidorm when I get five minutes. Both of which are definitely on my ‘to watch’ list.
I ‘made’ several purchases in Sainsbury’s yesterday – see what I did there. I blame the snow and the fact I couldn’t buy a hat (I don’t even like hats, I’ll probably look like a complete moron in one if I’m honest, but my god it’s SO cold!). One of them, was Goodnight Stories for Rebel Girls, which I bought for my nieces. I’ve been meaning to buy it for them for ages, along with the 2nd book in the series, but kept forgetting until I saw it on the shelf. It’s a lovely book, full of positive messages for girls from strong women throughout history and I couldn’t help having a little read myself.
I also ‘made’ the decision to go back to meditating at night. I had been doing one of the 10 minute meditations on the Headspace app every night, but came to the end of the free meditations and then forgot about it. It struck me on Wednesday that when I was doing these quick meditations every night I was sleeping better, waking up in a good mood and generally feeling much calmer and ready to tackle whatever the day threw at me. Fast forward a few weeks and I wasn’t sleeping, I definitely didn’t want to get up in the morning and I’m no longer channelling some serene goddess, more like a Tasmanian devil with severe anger issues. I think it’s clear to say meditating certainly works for me and makes me less likely to internally combust. I’ve downloaded the Calm app, but if you know any others that are worth a try, let me know.
Thank you World Book Day for allowing me not to have to worry about filling this section this week! This cheeky little monkey was so excited to get back to school on Wednesday ready for World Book Day yesterday. He chose his Where’s Wally outfit as soon as they hit the shops – I was hoping for Willy Wonka but he wouldn’t budge, and I really need the adult version of the Mary Poppins outfit, I love it! He loved dressing up, although he’s declared he’s going as Kylo Ren next year – will this kid ever stop obsessing over all things Star Wars!?!
Did you hear it snowed this week? If you didn’t, which rock were you under? We were ‘lucky’ in that the little dude was already off school when it snowed thanks to the scarlet fever that plagued him last week. He was still a little under the weather, so I bundled him up in several layers and joined him outside for a quick snowball fight. He loved every second of bombarding me with snowballs as you can probably tell from this photo.
I’ve listened to loads of podcasts while I worked this week. Everything from Hashtag Authentic to Huddle, to Not Another Mummy and one run by the woman behind Milo Tree. It’s one of those once you pop you can’t stop situations. What’s your favourite podcast, I’d love some more recommendations?
Who knows what we’ll get up to this weekend, what with the weather being the way it is. I imagine we’ll be staying close to home and I do have a sudden urge to spring clean or get out into my garden and pull all the weeds up (one thing the snow has been good for it’s killing them all off). Not sure why, I NEVER get the urge to clean. Needless to say I’ve either ill or have totally lost the plot.
Have a great weekend whatever you get up to.
