First week on Slimming World and I’ve fallen right back in with the plan. It’s so easy and despite not having done it properly for years it’s something you never really forget.
There’s been a few changes to syn values and a few changes to healthy extras along the way, but I’m finding that by tracking what I’m planning to eat each day in the morning, I’m not going over my syns for the day or missing meals. I’m terrible for missing breakfast and lunch, but I’m making myself eat and make healthy choices along the way.
One thing I do need to do is try to prepare lunches the night before if I haven’t got any left overs from dinner to have the next day, drink more water and squeeze more fruit in, but so far so good. I haven’t exercised this week either. I’ve had the kids off either sick or on exam leave for most of the week so my wii fit and cross trainer sessions have been pretty much forgotten about but luckily it doesn’t seem to have made a difference in my first weeks weight loss as I gained my first ‘award’ this week, which I’m thrilled about.
Yes, that’s right, I lost 7lb in my first week on the plan! It could have been more if I’d exercised, but it just goes to show that when I’m eating healthily and not ramming cakes, chocolate and sausage rolls into my mouth at a rate of knots the weight will come off.
Meal Plan wise this week I’m going for the following:
Fajita pork pasta, one of our favourites and adapted from this recipe for the chicken version
Chicken in mustard sauce (another favourite and one I need to write the recipe up for)
Loaded burgers (oh yes you can have them on Slimming World)
I’m also going to make some more of Kate’s chocolate cloud cake to get me through the week. It’s not the sweetest of cakes, but it hits the spot when you want something chocolately and is surprisingly filling. It’s 1 syn a piece/slice (mine ended up in a brownie tin so I had 9 squares) but if you melt 2tbsp of nutella and spread it on top you end up with a slightly more decadent version at just 2 syns a piece. It’s great with a hot chocolate or a coffee and well and truly satisfied my chocolate cravings this week.
I’ve got the kids off for 3 days again this week, thanks to their ‘carnival’ holiday and a public holiday, but I’m determined to get out and about, even if it’s just for a walk, to get some exercise in while they’re here. Then I can do some ‘proper’ exercise once they’re back at school on Thursday and Friday before weigh in on Saturday.
I set myself a goal back in January (before I even started attempting to diet, clever that huh!?) of losing 2 stone by the end of March. It means I need to lose 3lbs a week for the next 7 weeks, which is quite an achievement to aim for, but I’m hoping to get as near to the 2 stone off by that date as possible. After that I want to lose another 2 stone by mid July (my birthday). Big goals, but then I do have a lot of weight to lose so it tends to come off us fatties quicker and if I exercise it should help get me there quicker. Plus setting myself something to aim for will (hopefully) help me keep my motivation, especially as I’m breaking it down into ‘manageable’ chunks instead of attempting to get my head around losing over 8 stone all in one go.
