Slimming Down This Summer with Shake That Weight | An Intro

I’m beginning to lose count of the amount of weight loss posts I’ve written now on this blog. And here I am reviewing another weight loss plan – Shake That Weight. Saying that I have been dieting over the last few months and have managed to banish 1 stone 9.6 pounds. Eight of which I said goodbye to in the last two weeks. I just haven’t been particularly vocal about it. Maybe I didn’t want to jinx it. Who knows.

Something just seems to have clicked though. And despite a huge move in the last few weeks, my birthday and some pretty horrible news, I’ve managed to keep at it. Yes I’ve had the odd splurge. My massive chocolate birthday cake, was one, eating my body weight in sausage rolls on our arrival back in England was another. But I allowed myself that splurge and made sure I got rid of the weight gain, plus an extra few pounds for good measure the following week.

Yes it feels like a bit of a slog at times. And yes I do get rather sick of the sight of the piles of crisp roast potatoes I dish up onto everyone else’s plates on a Sunday, while I serve up my own dry roasted version. But it will be worth it in the end. Plus if I really want that crisp roast potato staring at me from the pan, I’ll have it. I just won’t have a snack later on. It’s definitely all about balance and finding what works for you.

And on that note, one thing I do find that works to give me a much needed injection of motivation is following a VLCD for a week or two every so often. I’ve tried several before so I know they do work. And I think my head is in the right place right now to really want to stick at it and give it my best shot. So when Shake That Weight got in touch and offered me a 2 week review I couldn’t wait to get cracking.

My Chosen Shake That Weight Plan

Having a BMI over 25 and a lot of weight to lose, I used the online tool to help me choose the right plan for me. I’ll be following the ‘Woman with meal plan’ for the next two weeks. Which basically entails choosing 3 Shake That Weight products at day and enjoying a home prepared meal. Usually your meal should be 400 calories, however as I’m a such a fatty, I’ve found I can actually have an extra 200 calories a day.

I’ve stocked up on porridge, shakes, noodles, ready meals and bars. Choosing some I know I’ll love and others I wanted to try. I’ve avoided the soups, purely because if I’m drinking shakes and having soup in the same day my mind tells me I haven’t eaten. And then I start feeling hungry. So to avoid that it’s going to be porridge or a shake for breakfast. Noodles or a ready meal at lunch and a bar mid afternoon to tide me over until dinner. And if I can’t make it through until dinner, I ordered myself some plan friendly snacks in addition to what I was sent to review. I guess the benefit of having done a VLCD before is I know what I like. I know how it works and how to make it work for me.

What I Ate

Yesterday was day one on the plan and I must say it was much easier than I remember following a VLCD being. I kicked the day off with my normal morning coffee and a bowl full of porridge. I love the porridge, it’s sweet and smooth and creamy, despite only being made with water.

Next up was the blazing beef chilli noodles. These were delicious, despite smelling a little odd and I really enjoyed them.

Then it was time for the milk chocolate joy bar. I actually joked to the Mr about this bar’s ability to bring me any joy whatsoever. Did I mention I was having a bad day yesterday? But I must admit I was wrong, it was actually really tasty.

And then it was time for dinner. I ended up having the same as my family. 350 calories worth of lean pork meatballs in a tomato sauce. Which were rather yummy if I do say so myself. And thankfully worked out at a normal sized portion, so no scrimping for me. Served with veg instead of pasta.

What Next?

So all in all, day one has gone swimmingly. I need to remember to drink more water, so my trusty water bottle will be making an appearance tomorrow. Here’s hoping I enjoy the next 13 days on the plan as much as I have today.
