To celebrate the publication date of Marge and the Secret Tunnel, the fourth in the hilariously funny Marge in Charge series of books for 5 – 8 year olds, we were sent a set of these fabulous books to review.
Here’s a little about this fun family-friendly series of books:
The message from each book is ‘don’t worry about being perfect or you’ll miss out on the fun!’ The books, written for children between 5 and 8 follows the adventures of two siblings Jakey Pants and Jemima and their unorthodox babysitter Marge.
Jemima is the narrator of each book and the eldest child, she feels she has to be a ‘good girl,’ so Marge teaches her to be silly and have fun and enjoy being a child! Each book has three fresh, fun and family-friendly MARGE stories which are perfect for children who are reading alone and just as fun when read aloud at bedtime.
Each book follows the effervescent Marge and her charges on their adventures, with lots of laughs along the way. With Marge and the Secret Tunnel being just as much fun as the preceding three books:
Life with Marge is NEVER boring! Even shopping for new shoes turns out to be an amazing adventure, especially when the lights go out and the children are stuck in the shop! And when Jakey decides he’d like to visit Australia, Marge has the best idea ever. She and the children will dig a tunnel and visit a completely different country . . .
The little dude loves reading. And although I’d expected these books to be a little too much for him to cope with reading alone seeing that he’s only five, he quickly proved me wrong. He loved the hilarity of the stories and instantly warmed to the characters and their high jinx. They make the perfect bedtime story as it’s so easy to dip in and out of them. And they’re quite simply a lot of fun. We certainly loved them, but don’t just take our word for it. Here’s what ‘people in the know’ have to say about them:
‘Isla Fisher is hilarious’ David Walliams
‘Charming, funny and delightful’ David Baddiel
‘Three warm, funny stories of Saturnalian mischief’ – The Guardian, Review
‘Fisher’s debut novel is the comic tale of an anarchic babysitter who causes mayhem. Perfect for reading aloud’. – The Daily Express
‘Hilarious, anarchic and charming MARGE stories from A-list actress, mother, writer and comedian Isla Fisher. Marge really is a babysitter like no other…’ – Good Housekeeping
