Parties, OINTB and a New House #littleloves

Its been a weird few weeks and I for one am glad Friday has come around again that’s for sure. We started last Friday night at a kids party with the little one, which was actually way more fun than it sounds. He had an absolute blast on trampolines, bumper cars, bouncy castles, pirate ships and so much more. And I may have even treated myself to a glass of wine. Clearly i don’t get out very often, but it was the best (and only) night out I’ve had in ages and I was surprised I could enjoy a kids party as much as I did. I guess it helps the Mr was there and the little one was having so much fun.

Everything has been overshadowed by my grandad being so ill lately and not being there with him and my mum. But things are starting to look up, so I thought it was about time I dusted off my laptop and got on with writing a long overdue #littleloves post.

Read

I’ve started a few books lately and put them straight down again. I just haven’t been in the mood to read and that’s unusual for me. I’ve just started reading a book about Reggie Kray’s first wife though and it seems quite a good read. It doesn’t portray her as the dull little piece of arm candy she so often is in films about the Krays, so it makes a nice change.

Watched

There’s a slight possibility that I binge watched Series 5 of OINTB in about 2 sittings. I literally could not take my eyes off the screen. If you haven’t watched it yet, you need to get it on Netflix like yesterday!

I also started watching The Handmaid’s Tale. It’s another one I can’t help watching, despite it being all kinds of weird. I popped it on earlier and before I knew it I was 3 episodes in.

Made

The little one ‘made’ a trip to the dentist with school. Bit of a weird school trip, but they all got their teeth checked, a little goody bag containing toothpaste and a new toothbrush, which he was thrilled with of course. And they even fitted in a trip to the park too. He had a wonderful time and we’re off on a ‘parent and child’ trip next week to the swimming pool too (I don’t have to get in thankfully). It’s his last trip of the year and follows his graduation ceremony that morning. I can’t believe my two break up from school for the summer next friday! Send wine people, send wine!

Wore

It was over 35 degrees today. Needless to say my ‘wore’ section consists of wearing as little as possible while wallowing in the pool like a beached whale. But at least this little one has been getting some extra pool time and loving it.

Heard

We FINALLY heard back today from the agent about the house we’re going to be renting when we move in just over 3 weeks. It’s all ours at last. It seems to have taken an absolute lifetime for it to go through. But at least now we can concentrate on packing everything up and getting ready to move country yet again. It’s a beautiful house in a lovely little village, surrounded by countryside yet just five minutes from my mum and the beach. I almost can’t believe it’s happening, but I guess reality will set in now we know we’re definitely going.

I only told the 5 year old about our move yesterday. We didn’t want him to worry. But in actual fact he was so thrilled to be moving close to his nanny, he hasn’t even mentioned missing his school yet. Now I just need to find him and his big sister a new school to go to, which is a logistical nightmare. But we’ll get there in the end.

And lastly…

baby sparrow

I couldn’t write my #littleloves without mentioning the newest addition to our family. This sweet little guy fell out of his nest above our bedroom balcony at the weekend and has been hopping about out there ever since. Luckily his parents only seem to have him to look after and are flying down onto the balcony to feed him regularly. And he’s pretty much growing before our eyes. This photo was taken yesterday, but I’m sure he looks bigger today. He’s gone from just hopping about to being able to fly short distances. He’s certainly getting braver by the day. He even sat on the teen’s foot yesterday. Hopefully he’ll be strong enough to fledge soon. It would be good to see him fly off before we leave.

We’re off to another one of the 5 year old’s friend’s parties tomorrow. She’s his girlfriend apparently. He even instructed me on exactly what I was allowed to buy her as a present. He’s so excited and hasn’t stopped talking about it all day. And if it’s anything like last week’s party, I may even be looking forward to it a tiny bit too. Although it’s at 10am so no wine for me this time.

Have a great weekend whatever you’re up to!

Great news about your new home. It must be getting very real for you now! Love that picture of your boy in the pool, looks like he is having fun! I’ve only watched the first three seasons of OITNB, must continue on with it. I just feel like I never have the time.

    Enjoy your weekend xx

He’s a proper little water baby. He makes me laugh he keeps asking if his new house in England is going to have a pool – not unless the move also includes me finding a rich bloke it doesn’t! When I said he could go to the local pool he was shocked that other people would be allowed to swim in ‘his pool’. I seriously need to get this kid adapted to England and quick! I’ve spent all day sorting the teen’s room out and getting stuff ready to pack. It just seems like I’m doing a big spring clean though, but I’ve only got 3 weeks left now so I need to get a move on! x

Good to have you back. I bet your move is exciting and stressful but ultimately worth it. I couldn’t cope with 35 degrees! Glad you are enjoying kids parties since you have so many!

Thanks Claire, I have missed writing my #littleloves posts but I’ve been such a moody old thing lately i just didn’t feel like I had anything worthy of including in a post. Ha ha the party this weekend was lovely but soooooooooooooo hot! There was no aircon inside and although it was in the morning it was on the hottest day of the year so far and oh my did we feel it. We couldn’t wait to get in the car and whack the aircon up full blast on the way home. Can’t wait for our move, I so hope we get back in time to see my grandad but even if we don’t it will be lovely to be near family again x

Oh I’m so happy that you’ve found a lovely place to live when you come back, it feels as if things are coming together well for you all. Can’t believe that your kids are so nearly off school for the summer – such a long holiday! xx
