Want to visit Walt Disney World? You’re not alone. We’ve been dreaming and planning our visit to Walt Disney World in Florida for years. And although it’s not booked – yet, we have a long list of things we can’t wait to see and do.
For us, Disney is all about the experience rather than the big rides. That feeling when you walk through the gates of the Magic Kingdom for the very first time, walk along Main Street and look up at Sleeping Beauty’s Castle with a look of sheer wonderment. Seeing your favourite Disney character for the first time and donning those Mickey ears – I want the rose gold ones.
Here’s what makes it onto our Walt Disney World wishlist:
Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge
With a slight Star Wars obsession, the six year old has his sights firmly set on Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. It’s due to open in late autumn next year, so I guess we’ll be postponing our visit until then. It looks as though it’ll be a must visit for any Star Wars fan and there’s even a Star Wars hotel being built too. No need to guess where the little dude wants to stay.
The teen on the other hand, is a real nature lover, so Animal Kingdom is more her cup of tea. She has been desperate to stay in the hotel overlooking the park for years. Waking up in the morning to see giraffes wandering around outside the window would be heaven to her and it’s the perfect place for her to develop her wildlife photography skills.
I remember the fireworks at Epcot being the most amazing I’ve ever seen. That was twenty years ago, so I can only imagine how wonderful they are now. You simply can’t visit any of the parks without taking in these breathtaking spectaculars as the evening draws to a close.
How can I miss the amazing foodie delights found in Walt Disney World off my list? From the churros to the Mickey pretzels, there are so many ways to tempt your taste buds. Is it weird to be excited by the food?
Peter Pan’s Flight
Not a big ride, but one the teen has at the top of her list. Peter Pan is her favourite Disney film. We even bought her a collectors edition of the book for Christmas last year. I can just imagine her face lighting up as we get on this one. You’re never too old to live the Disney dream after all.
A riot of colour and sound, the parades in Walt Disney World are quite simply amazing. There’s nothing like seeing your favourite characters dancing along the street and riding on floats waving to you as they go past.
Character Dining & Meet and Greets
Who doesn’t want to get close to their favourite Disney characters? From filling up your autograph book to having your photo taken with Mickey and Minnie, or even having a meal with your favourite characters to up the fun factor. There’s a wealth of ways to get your Disney character fix.
So there you have it, our wishlist of things we can’t wait to see and do in Walt Disney World. Do you have any suggestions for things we can’t miss while we’re there?
