Well I guess the title of this post says it all. I lost the 2lb I was hoping to lose last week and FINALLY lost that first stone.
This week just seems to have clicked. Following No Count rather than the Weight Watchers points system is definitely working better for me. I assumed I needed the regimented approach of pointing everything that went into my mouth, but it turns out that I don’t. I much prefer the ‘free eating’ approach of certain foods and then just pointing extras like treats or sauces etc. It makes me really think about if I want to use those points on something. And when you find out how many points are actually in a certain food you almost question what on earth you were doing eating it in the first place, or in such large quantities anyway.
I’ve also been watching youtube dieters, as well as indulging my weight loss instagram habit. I loved the video Michelle mentioned last week from Slimming World Girl Lauren so I’ve been busy watching more. I’m so not a vlogger, so there’s no danger of me getting in front of the camera any time soon, but those that do are certainly inspiring.
Here’s what I did this week to shift those pounds:
What I ate
It was definitely salad weather this week. I’m a complete salad dodger (that should say fruit and veg dodger), so my salads usually just consist of lettuce and grated carrot, with perhaps a bit of sweetcorn thrown in for good measure. But at least I’m trying to eat them more often.
These funny little things are baked oats and seem to have become my breakfast of choice this week. I was baking them in a cake tin, which made them really thin and almost cookie like, but the kids decided I should use their bunny silicone moulds instead. I fill these with a dollop of nutella so they have a gooey middle, or even raspberries and white chocolate for an indulgent and seriously filling breakfast.
We’ve also had a delicious tikka masala, taco bowls and even burgers this week. So we’re definitely enjoying food you wouldn’t normally associate with a diet and the spice mixes I got from Spicentice and JD Seasonings are still definitely helping me shake up my meal plan each week.
You know on your school report when it used to say ‘must do better’ – that’s me this week! Although in my defence I have been in our pool a few times this week, so I’ve had a teeny bit of exercise, even if most of it consisted of being half drowned by an over excited 5 year old.
I lost 2lb 4oz this week, which of course helped me hit my target of losing a stone. It has taken a long time to lose that. 12 whole weeks. Although in actual fact its only taken 6 weeks to lose that stone, when you take into account the weeks I’ve wallowed in self pity or when I gave up smoking. I actually forgot I gave up smoking while on a diet. Its been 8 weeks and I haven’t touched a single cigarette. So maybe I need to give myself more credit.
Now I’ve lost my first stone, my mind’s turning to what my next goal should be. Ultimately I want to lose about 7 or 8 stone in total, but we’re off to stay with my mum for a few weeks in the summer holidays and I have exactly 9 weeks until we go. I was going to say a pound a week, but to hell with it, I need to challenge myself a bit. So another stone it is.
