Following a busy March, I’d like to say we slowed it down a little in April, but looking back over our adventures it doesn’t seem as though we did. We started the month off with a very early Easter weekend and enjoyed a lovely lunch with family in a local pub before a trip to the park with my nieces and nephews to burn off those roast dinners.
Next up was a visit to the beach where we came across this accidental art installation. These discarded fisherman’s gloves line this fence along a vast stretch of windswept beach and despite the fact they’re ‘rubbish’, it certainly brightens it up.
We climbed the sand dunes.
And admired the views out to sea across the huge beach.
Before doing what we ALWAYS do at the beach – dig for dinosaur bones!
There were lots of trips to the park.
A trip to the zoo.
Where there are of course a fabulous selection of animatronic dinosaurs the little dude absolutely loves.
Next up was a visit to Walmer Castle. This beautiful little castle and its grounds are always a favourite for us. The little dude loves putting his headphones on to listen to the interactive guide, completing a mission and playing games as he goes. I’m a complete history geek so to see him enjoying it so much always makes me smile.
We also spent a fair bit of time on fairground rides in April, with the fair coming to our local town during the mini heat wave we all enjoyed a few weeks back. As well as a trip to a little seaside town near us which is home to a fun fair and amusements. This one is getting braver by the minute and is developing a love of ever bigger and faster rides each time we go. Needless to say, I think a trip to a theme park will be on the cards this summer.
And of course what use is all that beautiful sunshine if we didn’t indulge in an ice cream or two. The little dude and I made a point of walking to the seafront after school and treating ourselves to a 99 while the sun was shining.
Here’s to many more ice creams, sunshine and adventures in May!
