Hollie McNish, Tupac and Mdina #littleloves

I’m glad to report this week was significantly better than last, despite being struck down by whatever germs the 5 year old has been clinging onto for what seems like weeks. I’ve spent the vast majority of the week in bed since Sunday. And from Wednesday onwards both the teen and the little one have been off school feeling decidedly sorry for themselves. Last week must have been bad if this week beats it that’s for sure!

Luckily we did manage to get out on Saturday prior to being claimed by my sick bed. And that public holiday I was so looking forward to on Friday was just heavenly. So it’s not all bad. Here’s what I’ve enjoyed (albeit from underneath my duvet) this week:

This week I returned to my good old reliable chick lit with Tilly Tennant’s A Wedding in Italy. It’s a follow up to Rome is Where the Heart Is and is out next week. It follows Kate as she finds her way in her new home city of Rome and her place in her gorgeous Italian boyfriend’s very traditional family. Both books would make a great sunlounger read, or perhaps transport you to sunnier climes when the weather isn’t exactly playing ball.

I seem to have an addiction to the Kindle sales. I can’t stop buying books! This week alone I’ve bought Spark Joy by Marie Kondo, Fat Chance by Nick Spalding, which I’ve just started reading and The Year of Living Danishly, which I’ve been meaning to get my hands on for months. It’s not like I don’t already have 90,000 books waiting to be read in my kindle library!

I’ve also been having a look through the teen’s dummies guide to using her (she stole it from me) DSLR. I have no idea what I was expecting, perhaps I am too much of a ‘dummy’ for even this book because I still can’t get my head around it. I can barely even turn the thing on half the time, yet the teen seems to take beautiful photos with ease. I’m determined I will master it before the summer. Wish me luck!

You’ve probably all seen this video by now as its been doing the rounds on facebook all week, but I just love it. I’ve never been a fan of poetry. I guess I am, just not the classical stuff you read at school. This just really resonated with me. I feel more than ever that I’ve lost my way of late. That I’m ‘just’ someone’s mum and not me anymore. This video made me realise that I am more than ‘just’ a mum.

Erm not very much at all after feeling so rough all week. I ‘made’ the effort to actually drag myself from the bed occassionally if that counts. And I ‘made’ a pizza hut delivery order when I really couldn’t be bothered to cook. I had to pick the toppings so I practically made it!

Pyjamas? I must do better at this one. Although to be fair getting dressed at all this week has been cause for celebration.

I was having a little reminisce the other night, listening to old songs from when I was younger and just so happened to see this recommended in the sidebar. It’s suprisingly catchy.

And lastly…

We had a lovely day on Saturday exploring Mdina aka the ‘Silent City’. I’ve wanted to go up there for ages but kept putting it off, or not being able to park within miles because its been mobbed with tourists. So off we set on Saturday morning and managed to get a parking space no problem, avoiding the crowds and leaving before the coach loads of tourists arrived.

Mdina gate

You might even recognise the main gate into the city as the entrance to King’s Landing in GoT Series One. Here’s a little video if you’re a GoT geek like me.

We’re officially on the countdown to the Easter holidays now, not that the kids have been in school much this week of course. I can’t wait for two weeks of lazy mornings, days out and just chilling out. Fingers crossed the weather will be on our side too.

Have a great weekend whatever you get up to!

Oh you lucky thing, it looks so beautiful in your photos. Never been to Ireland and always wanted to. We’ve ended up off today again so we’ve had an extra 3 days off school, albeit spending half the morning at the doctors. We have lots of GoT stuff here, they filmed a lot here for the first season, so I love being a bit of a geek and wandering around seeing where it was filmed and of course it helps when they’re such lovely places anyway. Have a great time in Ireland x

Oh, sorry to hear you’ve all been poorly. What a nightmare! Hopefully you’re all on the mend now. I’ve just finished my first week of the Easter holidays, it always goes too quick (and I’m going into work for three days this week, boo!). Mdina looks beautiful, how lucky to have it practically on your doorstep. Enjoy your week xx

Oh no, I thought you might have been lucky enough to escape work – no such luck for a teacher though I guess 🙁 It is a lovely place, I’d spend way more time there if it wasn’t for all the bloody tourists (I have an aversion lol) x

Being unwell sucks, hopefully your feeling better now though! Nothing wrong with pyjamas! You know me, I am always going on about PJ days! Not seen that poem video but it really does spark a cord! Have a wonderful week #littlelove

We’re all good now thanks – well the Mr has just caught it so it’s like having another child, but at least we can escape his moaning now we’re all better x
