I must admit I’m really enjoying writing these posts at the beginning of each month. Life is a funny old thing sometimes and I think it helps to have something to look forward to. And while we haven’t got any specific events planned this month, it certainly helps me get through the month when I focus my attention on what the month will bring.
Here’s what we have lined up in September:
Back to School
September does of course mean it’s back to school for the little dude. He’s so looking forward to seeing his friends, exploring his new classroom and learning lots of new things. I love how excited he is to get back to school. Here’s hoping it continues.
Of course, it also means a new start at college for his big sister. Having finished year 11 and collected her GCSE results just over a week ago, she’s hitting the ground running, camera in hand on Monday. She’s looking forward to starting her course and meeting new people. Fingers crossed this will also be the month she gets herself a job now we know which days she’ll be at college each week. I loved the independence earning my own money brought when I was her age, so I’m hoping she will feel the same.
I don’t know about you, but the older I get the more my life seems to evolve with the school year. I love September for the newness it seems to bring. That little injection of positivity and motivation at the start of the month, matched only by that in January. Except it isn’t accompanied by the need to hibernate after the craziness Christmas brings.
With the kids back at school and college, I am looking forward to a little alone time. Some quiet time to unwind after keeping the children entertained over the holidays. The opportunity to work without interruption for a drink, a snack, or the constant stream of ‘I’m bored’. I imagine the quietness will annoy me after just a few days, but for now I’m imagining it to be heavenly. Of course, as well as working in relative peace, I’ll be investing a little time in looking after myself. My diet has gone by the wayside these past few weeks, so it’s back to healthy eating for me. I’ll be fitting in some exercise and taking some time to explore, camera in hand too.
I’m hoping the blue skies will stick around into September as seems to be predicted. But I am rather looking forward to treating myself to a new autumn wardrobe a few sizes smaller than I was wearing last year. I love it when it’s not quite cold enough for a coat, but you can pop on a chunky knit and some wellies to take a wander through the woods as the leaves begin to change colour.
What are you looking forward to this month?
