I must admit I’m really enjoying writing these posts at the beginning of each month. Life is a funny old thing sometimes and I think it helps to have something to look forward to. It certainly helps me.
Here’s what we have lined up this month:
A 40th Birthday
No. Not mine. August sees the Mr turn 40. He isn’t really one for birthdays. Infact the poor thing often gets dragged to the nearest soft play by the little dude who thinks he’s doing his daddy a favour, which never fails to entertain me. We’ve promised him he can choose which soft play he goes to this year though seeing as it’s a special birthday. I’d love to say we have something more special planned, but other than a few nights away with friends I arranged for him, it’s all rather low key.
Friends and Family
The Mr works away a lot, so while he’s away this month my friend, who is also my daughter’s aunt, and her kids are coming to stay. While my friend and I have met up regularly since we moved back to the UK, the moody teen hasn’t seen her cousins for some years. So we’re making the most of the summer holidays and getting together for day trips to the beach and late nights catching up. We all used to spend so much time together when we lived closer and the children were little. We were always in each others houses, going away together and generally just enjoying ourselves as a little extended family. So I can’t wait for us all to be together again. This time with our youngest boys in tow too.
Why on earth am I looking forward to the teen getting her results I hear you ask. I guess it just marks the end of her time at school and the beginning of her new life in college. Plus we want to know whether she’ll be taking a Level 2 or Level 3 course, depending on what her results are and then we can plan accordingly. Plus we’ll be celebrating with a night out regardless of her results. Because who doesn’t love any excuse to celebrate?
We’re hoping to make it up to Lincolnshire for a little visit to the little dude’s great grandad, which we’re hoping to combine with a few nights in a hotel. And a trip to a dinosaur park in Norfolk. You know, seeing as the little dude is so obsessed with dinosaurs. While it won’t be the most luxurious trip (Travelodge all the way) and we won’t be soaking up the sun on a beach somewhere tropical, it will be lovely to get away for a few days.
So there we have it, a few things I’m looking forward to this month. What does August have in store for you?
