So Shape

Getting in Shape this Autumn with So Shape | A Review

You may have noticed I’ve been on a bit of a health kick recently. Since moving back to the UK I’ve kissed goodbye to over 2 and a half stone and I couldn’t be more thrilled. Of course, anyone who’s followed this blog for a while will know I have a lot more to lose. But I’m in it for the long haul. I’m not about to bury myself under layers and jumpers now autumn is here. I fully intend to head into winter wearing another dress size smaller.

I’ve worked out over time what works for me. And the phrase ‘a little of what you fancy does you good’ springs to mind. I think when you have a lot of weight to lose you have to make it sustainable. And by including treats in my diet, whether it’s a packet of crisps, a chocolate bar or having dessert (something I do pretty much daily), it’s helped me stick to my diet without any binges.

Why So Shape?

So Shape flavours

When I was offered the chance to review So Shape I must admit I was sceptical. I’ve tried every diet going and I’d finally found my ‘happy place’ in terms of what I could eat and still lose weight. So why mess with something that works? Because I was intrigued I guess. The website is what caught my eye. It’s bright, modern and great to look at.

Then, of course, your eye is drawn to the flavours of the smart meals. And there are plenty to choose from. How does Speculoos, cookies & cream, strawberry pie, or sea salt caramel sound? Certainly not flavours you’d traditionally associate with a ‘diet’ that’s for sure. Combine the flavours with the simplicity of it all and I couldn’t wait to get started.

The Method

So Shape method

It really is as easy as following the 3 steps above. The meals themselves are healthy, seriously tasty and there’s a whole host of choice. You can choose from hot drinks and shakes, soup, hot meals and frozen. On the 14 day challenge, I picked out 6 flavours to try.

  • Brownie – seriously chocolatey and fab hot or cold
  • Sea salt caramel – velvety and oh so delicious
  • Cappuccino – another delicious one I loved heated up, but was equally delicious over ice on a warm (ish) day
  • Cookies & cream – oh my god gorgeous
  • Tomato soup – I tried this because I wanted a savoury option, but didn’t have high hopes. It was delicious, however.
  • Pasta spicy bolo – I loved having a ‘proper’ meal to tuck into rather than a liquid dinner and this spicy pasta was a great choice

What I Liked

So Shape motivation

Not only did I like the sleek website and the food itself, I also really appreciated the amount of effort So Shape has put into these products and the information they provide. The packaging is eye-catching and motivational. I just love these quotes, in English and French, on all of the meals. Their instagram community over at @soshaperesults is packed full of motivation, inspiration and support. And even the little details, like the accompanying booklet, for example, is absolutely chock-a-block with info. You’re also really encouraged to stay in touch with the team, to ask any questions and let them know how you’re getting on.

The Results

So Shape shake

I’m thrilled to say that during my 14 day challenge I lost another 3lb and 6 inches. I could have lost more if I’d stuck to the challenge more rigidly, but it’s all about making it work for you. Fitting it into your lifestyle. And as a busy mum and freelancer, this worked. I could enjoy a tasty shake or hot drink when I was on the go and when I had that bit more time I would enjoy the soup, bolognaise or a low-calorie meal. I didn’t feel like I was sacrificing anything and it just slotted into my day. And that’s why it’s so simple.
