Friends, Family and Banana Pancakes #littleloves

Another week of settling in to our new home and adjusting to the sub zero temperatures that seem to be gracing the British Isles at the moment. Its been a busy one. There’s been yet more paperwork to fill out, our belongings arrived from Malta and more furniture was delivered. But we’ve also managed to squeeze in a bit of fun along the way.

On Saturday we headed to the local food festival, where we spent a lovely few hours (despite my starting a diet the day before) eyeing up the food and enjoying the rides. Sunday we visited my sister and my little nieces and nephews, my grandad and our friends. With the moody teen at home and our friend’s daughter at her nans, it was just our two boys. And they had a blast. A mutual love of dinosaurs and all things Star Wars kept them occupied for hours. So much so we left them to it rather than take the little one to see Cars 3 as we’d planned. It’s so cute to see them playing so nicely together. Their dads have been best friends for years, so seeing these two little mini mes forging a friendship is so sweet.

And without further ado, it’s time for this week’s #littleloves.

A Killer Affair by Rebecca Chance, an author I always enjoy. It follows Lexy, Queen of reality tv and dowdy blogger and aspiring writer Caroline, as she is brought in to ghost write Lexy’s autobiography. As their lives become more entwined by the day, it isn’t long before Caroline craves a little too much of Lexy’s flamboyant lifestyle for herself. I’m about halfway through and already it’s a fantastic book.

I’m sure I love Game of Thrones more and more as each week goes by. This week’s episode was pretty damn amazing and I can’t wait for Monday already. I also finally got enough time to chill out a bit and watch a few episodes of Riviera. What an amazing series! I can’t help but watch two or three in a row each time I sit down to watch it.

I made some seriously delicious banana pancakes this week, topped with cherries and nutella. The perfect weekend breakfast for my little man and I. They’re healthy, a great way for both of us (fruit & veg dodgers) to get more fruit in our diet and taste pretty damn yummy too.

Not sure this qualifies as a #littleloves as it’s fricking freezing right now. But I was thrilled to find my slipper boots in the boxes that FINALLY arrived from Malta this week. My feet are so snug. Seriously people I know England isn’t as warm as Malta or Spain, but it is July for goodness sake, where is the sun?

I ‘heard’ I lost 6lb at Weight Watchers this week. I actually laughed when the ‘coach’ told me. It’s my first week weighing in since I swapped my online membership for a meeting pass and I weighed in yesterday, a day early, because I couldn’t make it this morning. And I STILL lost 6lb! I’m sooo happy. I can’t believe I lost all that in one week, especially because I was cooked the most epic of roast dinners by my friend on Sunday and haven’t been as strict in tracking what I was eating as I should have been. It takes me to just over 1 and a half stone off now. Here’s to the next stone and a half!

And Lastly…

We’re stranded at the moment without a car. So we’ll probably be staying pretty close to home this weekend. We have family visiting today and we’ll no doubt see my mum over the weekend too. I think I’ve probably seen more people in the last few weeks than I did in the last two years living abroad. And the kids are loving it. They’re just so happy to see our family. And that’s why we came back. It really does warm my heart to see my two with their grandparents. Or my little boy showing my grandad his apps on his kindle, not realising how very ill he is and just seeing him as ‘big grandad’, not a sick old man who can no longer leave his bed and hasn’t got long left with us. My grandad’s face lighting up for the first time in who knows how long when he opened his eyes to see him standing by the bed. And seeing them disappear off on an adventure with their cousins. I quite honestly couldn’t be happier right now.

Have a great weekend whatever you get up to!

I love your “lastly” children are so blasΓ© about sickness and it’s so nice that your little one doesn’t see that and still sees his “big grandad” Hope you have a wonderful weekend lovely xxx

It is FREEZING! It was the warmest it has been since we got here yesterday and there was me hanging the washing out in my joggers, massive fluffy jumper and slipper boots – my neighbours must have thought I was mental as they all seem to be wearing as little as possible despite the fact it keeps raining! x

Congratulations on the weight loss – that’s amazing! I’ve been working on losing weight over the past couple of months, and finally reached my goal weight this week which is super exciting. The pancakes look delicious, and I don’t even like bananas!

    Happy weekend!

Well done Jade, that’s brilliant! Ha ha I don’t actually like bananas either, but they taste really nice – I usually blitz rather than mash the bananas so you get the taste but not the texture πŸ˜‰

Ha ha I am too. I have made them every day in a week before. Helps that my little one loves them and it’s a great way to get fruit into him as we’re both fruit and veg dodgers!

Oo wow those pancakes looks incredible – anything drizzled in Nutella is a winner with me! πŸ™‚ #LittleLove

Well Done on the weight loss, those pancakes look delicious. I love pancakes – quite possibly my favourite food. It’s so lovely to hear that you’re all settling in to England life well (despite the difference in weather!). I can imagine that seeing your Grandad happy is one of the best feelings, and makes it all so worth it. Kids really are such a good tonic. Enjoy the week ahead xx

Ha ha so could I. I did make these banana pancakes every day for a week once – and still lost weight! Helps that they’re a good way to get fruit into me and the little one as we’re both fruit and veg dodgers! Here’s hoping the weather perks up – it’s currently peeing down – AGAIN! x

I’m so with you on Game of Thrones. And I really need to watch Riviera – so many people have recommended it now. It’s definitely a chilly July this year, but I bet as ever September will be boiling. It always annoys me as the year should be winding down by that point! Congratulations on the weight loss, that’s an awesome achievement. Hope you have a great weekend, even if stranded x #LittleLoves

Riviera was amazing. I just finished the series and it just got better and better. Ha ha I’ll look forward to Septmeber then, i’m FREEZING! x

I’m so glad the move is working out well for you. Well done on the weight loss too. Those pancakes look amazing. I really want to watch Riviera.

Thanks Claire. Despite a few teething problems and the fact we still don’t have a car (the joys of moving at short notice/changing jobs all at once), it’s shaping up to be a great move for us. Fingers crossed it continues x

Gosh, a move from Malta! Glad it went well and that you’re enjoying being closer to family. I’m sorry to hear about your Grandad – how wonderful that your boy brings him so much joy. I’m loving Game of Thrones too – we normally record all the TV shows we want to watch and then watch them about 6 months later but Game of Thrones is the only one we watch when it’s actually on TV every week!

Same here, Game of Thrones is definitely worth watching – saying that I only watched this week’s episode last night so I’m not doing so great on the new series and we’re only 3 episodes in!

Banana pancakes are ace! I ought to make some for my veggie and fruit dodging 3 year old son. I made them protein pancake style for him before but he knew, he just knew! So I will have to use my usual batter and sneak in just a bit of banana. That would be progress!
    Enjoy your week!

Ha ha kids do know don’t they. luckily my little fruit and veg dodger doesn’t seem to mind. He even likes these ones which are made just from oats, egg, banana and a splash of milk and you can blend it to make a batter out of it too so they don’t look any different from ‘normal’ pancakes πŸ˜‰

I have not watched GoT at all but i feel like i might have to start as everyone raves about it so much. Congrats on your weight loss thats seriously impressive in one week. I have no idea whats going on with this weather its so frustrating. x

Game of Thrones is a weird one. It’s everything I hate – violent, fantasy, but it’s seriously good. It took me a few episodes to get into it (and I didnt start watching until series 4 was underway as I was adamant I’d hate it) but now I’m hooked. Wish the author would hurry up and finish the next book though – he’s taking FOREVER! x

The weather is terrible and so cold. Honestly, I feel for you coming back to this!
Well done on your weight loss. I must give banana pancakes a try.
    Have a good week xx

Ha ha funny you should comment on this just as it started peeing down with rain again! August is going to be as bad as July by the looks of it! x
