Another week of settling in to our new home and adjusting to the sub zero temperatures that seem to be gracing the British Isles at the moment. Its been a busy one. There’s been yet more paperwork to fill out, our belongings arrived from Malta and more furniture was delivered. But we’ve also managed to squeeze in a bit of fun along the way.
On Saturday we headed to the local food festival, where we spent a lovely few hours (despite my starting a diet the day before) eyeing up the food and enjoying the rides. Sunday we visited my sister and my little nieces and nephews, my grandad and our friends. With the moody teen at home and our friend’s daughter at her nans, it was just our two boys. And they had a blast. A mutual love of dinosaurs and all things Star Wars kept them occupied for hours. So much so we left them to it rather than take the little one to see Cars 3 as we’d planned. It’s so cute to see them playing so nicely together. Their dads have been best friends for years, so seeing these two little mini mes forging a friendship is so sweet.
And without further ado, it’s time for this week’s #littleloves.
A Killer Affair by Rebecca Chance, an author I always enjoy. It follows Lexy, Queen of reality tv and dowdy blogger and aspiring writer Caroline, as she is brought in to ghost write Lexy’s autobiography. As their lives become more entwined by the day, it isn’t long before Caroline craves a little too much of Lexy’s flamboyant lifestyle for herself. I’m about halfway through and already it’s a fantastic book.
I made some seriously delicious banana pancakes this week, topped with cherries and nutella. The perfect weekend breakfast for my little man and I. They’re healthy, a great way for both of us (fruit & veg dodgers) to get more fruit in our diet and taste pretty damn yummy too.
Not sure this qualifies as a #littleloves as it’s fricking freezing right now. But I was thrilled to find my slipper boots in the boxes that FINALLY arrived from Malta this week. My feet are so snug. Seriously people I know England isn’t as warm as Malta or Spain, but it is July for goodness sake, where is the sun?
I ‘heard’ I lost 6lb at Weight Watchers this week. I actually laughed when the ‘coach’ told me. It’s my first week weighing in since I swapped my online membership for a meeting pass and I weighed in yesterday, a day early, because I couldn’t make it this morning. And I STILL lost 6lb! I’m sooo happy. I can’t believe I lost all that in one week, especially because I was cooked the most epic of roast dinners by my friend on Sunday and haven’t been as strict in tracking what I was eating as I should have been. It takes me to just over 1 and a half stone off now. Here’s to the next stone and a half!
We’re stranded at the moment without a car. So we’ll probably be staying pretty close to home this weekend. We have family visiting today and we’ll no doubt see my mum over the weekend too. I think I’ve probably seen more people in the last few weeks than I did in the last two years living abroad. And the kids are loving it. They’re just so happy to see our family. And that’s why we came back. It really does warm my heart to see my two with their grandparents. Or my little boy showing my grandad his apps on his kindle, not realising how very ill he is and just seeing him as ‘big grandad’, not a sick old man who can no longer leave his bed and hasn’t got long left with us. My grandad’s face lighting up for the first time in who knows how long when he opened his eyes to see him standing by the bed. And seeing them disappear off on an adventure with their cousins. I quite honestly couldn’t be happier right now.
Have a great weekend whatever you get up to!
