Diet Diaries | Slowly But Surely

Diet Diaries | Slowly But Surely

Two weeks on from my last weight loss update and despite so many things that could throw me off track, I’ve stuck to the Weight Watchers No Count plan religiously. Something just seems to have finally clicked into place. After struggling with the points system for a few weeks, going back to basics and what I was used to with Slimming World years ago seems to have helped me no end.

There’s no trying to cram in all my points each day. I eat what I want from a long list of foods and have the odd treat or include ingredients that are pointed when I want to add a little something different. It just works for me. And slowly but surely it is having an effect on my weight. It’s coming down. Albeit slowly, but consistency is key and I’m loving seeing the numbers on the scales drop.

Here’s what I’ve been up to over the past few weeks:

What I ate

I’ve recently discovered these little protein balls, which are surprisingly nice. The caption on this pic sums it up for me – ‘If you’d told me a few months ago I’d enjoy snacking on a weird brown chewy blob made of whey protein, seeds and cacao nibs I doubt I’d have believed you.’ It’s so true.  Who’d have thought I’d end up enjoying anything remotely healthy!

Another new discovery is Walden Farms caramel sauce. It’s not the most decadent caramel sauce you’ll ever try, but it’s nice enough and I love it in iced coffee. It’s calorie free too so it’s a great little product to have on hand. Next up I need to try it on ice cream!

Other than my new discoveries I’m eating baked oats with a dollop of nutella every day. I’ve started adding banana and cinnamon to get a bit of fruit into my diet. And even the 5 year old joins me in demolishing them. They’re really filling, so much so I barely ever seem to eat lunch these days. Lunch tends to be ham followed by a protein ball or a bowl of Weetabix protein crunch. And dinner will more often than not be curry, pasta or steak.

I STILL haven’t done any exercise! I really need to work on that. But I have been in the pool almost every day over the last week. I guess you could call that exercise as it’s an activity I wouldn’t otherwise do. Although I’m not sure you can class being drowned by a 5 year old exercise. I do make sure I get in a few lengths when he’s sat on the side or throws himself onto my back for a ‘ride’ though and now its warmed up a bit I might start swimming while the kids are at school again. Every little helps after all!

I’m thrilled to have lost 1.4lb last week and 1.2lb this week. Taking me to a total loss of 1 stone 3lb.

I’ve also lost a total of 34.5 inches, which I’m very pleased with. The photo above was last week compared to when I started in March and despite still not being ANYWHERE near where I want to be, even I can see the difference between these photos. I haven’t dropped a dress size of anything as dramatic as that yet. But I guess when you’ve been squeezing yourself into clothes that are too small for you for years you don’t drop sizes for a while, but I’m getting there. I don’t even care it’s not as quick as I originally wanted anymore. I’m just happy it’s coming off and my attitude towards the entire process is changing. That’s good enough for me.

Ha ha my mum mentioned my arms last night when I sent her that pic actually – I hadn’t noticed and there’s only an inch difference in my arms but you can see it! I’m drinking my iced caramel coffee right now 😉 x

What a difference between those two photos, that’s awesome! I love your attitude too, slow and steady wins the race (and teaches you a lot on the way too!).

Thanks Sadie. I couldn’t see much of a difference at first, but the more I look at it the more I can see. Here’s hoping it’ll continue!

Wow, what a fantastic difference between those two photographs, you can really tell. I love progress photographs. They’re so good to show us how far we’ve come. Well done x

Oh wow!!! I’ve not followed your progress for ages having been totally out of the blogging world. It’s amazing to see how well you are doing! Those photos are just proof of that.
    Well done hunny! xxx
