A Sunday Walk, Beauty and the Beast and a Girly Day #littleloves

Last weekend so didn’t go as planned. The meal and cocktails I’d been looking forward to had to be shelved as I had the most horrendous migraine on Friday and Saturday. By Sunday I was feeling a little better though so we went for a walk around some pretty local gardens. Some of the scenes from Game of Thrones Series 1 were shot there so not only is it a lovely place for a wander it’s my GoT fix until the new series starts.

I would say we’ll go for a meal this weekend, but I’m back on the diet and really want to stick to it, so I’m thinking I’ll give it a few weeks and get a few more pounds off before we attempt a date night again.

Onto our #littleloves for the week:

Read

I’ve calmed it down a bit on the reading front this week and I only have this one on the go. Me, You and Tiramisu is my usual brand of chick lit and the perfect escape after a busy day. It’s a lovely story and follows teenage friends as they meet unexpectedly years later and fall for each other, with hilarity and heartbreak along the way.

Watched

One of my favourites I found on Netflix or Amazon Prime one night when I was flicking through and watched again this week. The 100 Foot Journey is such a lovely story and has an amazing cast. Plus Manish Dayal is rather easy on the eye.

I’ve only recently discovered this series and I’ve been laughing my way through a few episodes this week. It follows a couple as they meet and end up pregnant within just a week and all the drama that ensues.

Made

Lots of hotel reservations for our trip back home. Nowhere swanky (yet) but we have Travelodges booked in both Manchester and Chester and a Premier Inn in the Cotswolds. The Travelodges are for when we’re staying near family and friends but we thought we’d break up the trip back to Kent from seeing family on the Welsh border with an overnight stay in the Cotswolds, where we went on our first trip away together 8 years ago.

Of course this time there won’t be waking up on a farm in a bed the same size as my bedroom, and we’ll have the little dude with us, but it will be lovely to stop off it that part of the world again. We’re planning on visiting Bourton on the Water while we’re there, one of our favourite Cotswolds villages and stopping off at Birdland. It has a dinosaur trail which the little one will love, so we can combine our love of the village with something for him. Next on the list to book is a night away for just the two of us.

Wore

My FitBit. I joined Weight Watchers online this week after a month of going it alone with my healthy eating and promptly clamped my FitBit to my arm again. I’ve also had my workout clothes out again this week. I’ve done 3 HIIT workouts in a row this week and am quite surprised I haven’t died yet. But I’m actually enjoying it. One thing I never thought I’d hear myself say.

Heard

The teen has rediscovered her love of a sweet little Spanish singer who used to live near us when we were in Spain and has been blaring his latest singles out. I must admit this old one of his is still my favourite. Get me listening to teeny bopper music. I also just said teeny bopper – I’m ready for my pension now!

And lastly…

I’ve ordered some gorgeous flowers for my mum from Bloom and Wild for Mother’s Day. I love the way their flowers look. There’s almost something wild and untamed about them and the combination of scents and flowers they use is just beautiful. I did actually try to order them from Interflora, but they couldn’t deliver anywhere near Mother’s Day, so I was lucky Bloom and Wild could. How are florists all booked up for Mother’s Day already! If you want a cheeky £5 off your next order from Bloom and Wild, click on the link above they sent me after I placed my order.

The teen and I are off out on a girly day today. Her school does parents day rather than evening, so the kids get two days off, alright for some! We’ll be popping in to see some of her teachers once we’ve dropped the 5 year old off at school in the morning then hitting the shops for a bit of retail therapy and a bite to eat. We don’t get to do it often so it’ll be lovely to spend some time just me and my girl.

And of course this weekend it’s all about Beauty and the Beast. The teen is off to see it with her friends, while I’m being subjected to Lego Batman with the little one. Have a great weekend whatever you’re up to!

Sorry to hear you had a migraine, they completely wipe you out don’t they? I’m always in awe of how many books you read! I bet you’re looking forward to your trip home, sounds like you’ve got some lovely things planned too. Hope your daughter’s parents ‘day’ went well. Enjoy your weekend xx

I really sympathise with you about the migraine, I have suffered since childhood and although I take preventative medicine daily I have days completely wiped out by migraines, hope you’re feeling better now. Hope you’re having fun with the Fitbit, I find mine addictive. It sounds like you’ve been busy with the workouts I bet your steps are high. Have a good week.

Oh what a shame about your date night! I’ve only had a couple of migraines in my life and they really do wipe you out don’t they? So painful and debilitating.
All your travel plans sound exciting! Lots to look forward to xx

It seems that everyone got to watch Beauty and the Beast at the weekend! How was it? I’ve not watched The 100 Foot Journey but sounds as though I should. I absolutely love Catastrophe – so funny! x
