I’m a bit of a one hit wonder. Joined in with #littleloves a few weeks back for the first time and have been meaning to ever since but haven’t got round to it so I was determined I would take a little time out today to appreciate a few of the things we’ve been enjoying this week.
I’m still on the A Song of Ice and Fire Books (Game of Thrones), although I’m midway through the second book now. They seem to go on forever! I do love them though and it’s often difficult to adapt books to film or television, yet I love both the books and the tv series equally. Can’t wait for Seaon 5 to air on the 12th of April!
I’ve just ordered myself a copy of the new Mollie Makes Social Media magazine so I’m looking forward to that turning up. I’ve been so busy with work the last few weeks (mainly social media/copy writing related) so I’ve not had much chance to read blogs as I normally would, well ones that aren’t all content and social media related anyway.
The teen is currently reviewing the lastest Geek Girl Book – All That Glitters. She’s a little bit obsessed with the Geek Girl series and devours them within days. This one already seems to be a hit and she’s been up late reading it after I’ve told her to turn her lights off so I reckon this one is just as addictive too!
Not to be one to miss out on a good book, the 3 year old has been busy reviewing ‘I Need a Wee’ which is all about Alan the Bear leaving it too late before he goes to the loo. Anyone else know any little people with that problem!?!
I *might* be trying to rewatch all 4 seasons of Game of Thrones before season 5 airs next month. I’m on Season 2 at the moment so I might just about squeeze them all in.
I also just watched Blended which had me laughing out loud – Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore together are just such a great combination and never fail to make me laugh!
I did get the chance to slip on a dress and head out for the night with the man this week which is always rather nice. We went for dinner in a local Argentinian restaurant and oh my was the steak good – and the brownie! I also had a meeting with my boss who flew over to see me (how posh does that sound) so had another chance to get out of my normal uniform of comfy jeans and tops and pop a bright kimono on over my top and straighten my hair (can’t actually remember the last time I did that). I even managed to coordinate my nails with my kimono when I went for a maincure the previous day, not that it was intentional (ignore the fat fingers and admire the colour 😉 ) .
The teen is obsessed with parodies at the moment and all I seem to hear is her sniggering away to some of the ones Bart Baker does on YouTube. I must admit I did absolutely crack up at some of them myself though too when she showed me them.
The kids have been busy in the kitchen making a gorgeous cake thanks to the Betty Crocker mixes we were recently sent. So far we’ve made a Victoria sponge with a little added sweetness (I say little but oh my was it sickly – note I said ‘was’ – I still ate several huge slices!) from the vanilla buttercream with rainbow sprinkles. It was the most gorgeous vanilla sponge I’ve tasted in years and so moist. I’d definitely buy it again and a cake is always so much nicer when someone else makes it for you – luckily I have the teen for that these days, with a little help from the 3 year old of course.
I made our favourite patatas bravas with chorizo and alioli the other night and they went down a storm as usual. It’s such a simple recipe, crunchy potatoes with a fiery tomato and chorizo sauce with a big dollop or alioli on top. Heaven on a plate!
I’ve had my mum staying for the last week and despite being busy with work (luckily I work from home) we had a lovely time with the kids. The man and I got a babysitter for the night, she decided to do all my ironing which as you can imagine is amazing – I probably wont have to iron again for a month, although I did have to go buy some more hangers as when all of our clothes are washed and ironed there isn’t enough hangers for them all! We went and had a manicure together which was nice as we don’t get to spend much time together anymore as we live in different countries and when she is here the kids are always wanting their nanny to themselves so I don’t get a look in. She went home today so we’re all sad to see her go but are looking forward to the next time she comes (and does all my ironing – shhh don’t tell her I said that!) and of course the Easter holidays next week.
