If the recent burst of warm weather has got you thinking about summer holidays, why not consider venturing to sunny Mexico for your family trip? Mexico is becoming a popular tourist destination for families, and with flights getting cheaper all the time – you could get yourself a great deal to this fascinating part of the world.
With plenty to do and weather we could only dream about in the UK, Mexico is a great choice for your next holiday. Here are five things to do in Mexico with the kids when you’re there.
1. Go to the beach
Let’s start with the obvious one! There are some fantastic beaches to enjoy in Mexico, particularly if you stay in the resort areas such as Cancun. Take your time exploring the best beaches in Cancun, and the kids will be able to amuse themselves easily enough. As a way to spend some restful days after travelling so far, some days at the beach are a must for your visit. Remember that the sun is very strong in Mexico, so wear adequate sun protection during your stay.
2. Enjoy a day out at Xel-Ha
Xel-Ha is one of Cancun’s most popular tourist attractions, taking you to the beautiful Riviera Maya where you can enjoy water activities, nature trails and more. It’s a fun day out for all the family, especially if you want to have a go at snorkelling, kayaking and of course, swim with dolphins.
3. Xcaret Eco Theme Park
Xcaret Eco Theme Park is becoming more and more popular with tourists. Around an hour’s drive from Cancun, it’s packed with some incredible things to do. Some people recommend that you spend two days here, but if your time is limited, then you should be able to see and do a lot in one day. There’s an aquarium, the chance to see the turtles, water slides and the chance to explore the Mayan Village. Make sure you get there early – with so much to see you won’t want to waste a second!
4. Visit Mexico City
If you want to get away from the typical holiday spots, then you could add a few days in Mexico city either side of your trip. There is plenty to see in the Mexican capital including a planetarium, beautiful parks, Six Flags theme park and more. Mexico City is within close range of some other great cities, so why not venture further north and stay at the AC Hotel Queretaro Antea to enjoy the beautiful Spanish colonial architecture that fills the state. It’s easy to hire a car from the airport to help you get around Mexico with ease.
When the weather is as great as it is, sometimes all your kids will want to do is relax and enjoy spending time in the pool. Many Mexico hotels and resorts come with all-inclusive options, which are great if you have a modest budget while you’re there. Many of the large resorts are packed with their own things to do, so you might not even need to leave the resort!
