3 Easy Ways to Boost Your Body Confidence

Body confidence. 2018’s buzz word it seems. Especially among bloggers and influencers, with the likes of Molly Forbes and Hayley McLean leading the charge.

But what is body confidence anyway? This quote from the book Does this pregnancy make me look fat? sums it up for me.

The belief that you are your most beautiful when you are healthy–both in body and mind. A feeling that results when you give up the mission to mould and shape yourself and make a commitment to take care of yourself. Body confidence breeds positive body image–it enables us to see ourselves through a meaningful lens, not a superficial one.

Wouldn’t it be wonderful if we could all feel that way?

While this is a subject I fully intend to elaborate on in future. I’ve battled my own body confidence issues, much like we all have after all. I thought I’d put together a quick list of things which have helped me when my own body confidence has been somewhat lacking.

Dress the part

The right type of clothes can make you feel a million dollars, giving you an instant confidence boost and leaving you feeling like you can take on the world.

Do you remember when all your underwear matched and you had actual underwear sets? I do. My ‘thing’ was underwear. For some people it’s bags or shoes. But beautiful underwear always won for me. I don’t know about you but I don’t remember the last time I wore actual matching underwear. But I do know how it made me feel. Always start with good underwear and build your outfit around it, the likes of which you’ll find at Knix.

Choose clothes you love. Not sure what that is anymore? Experiment until you find the clothes that put a smile on your face and a spring in your step.

You’re worthy

Of praise. Of taking some much needed time out for yourself. Of treating yourself to that lippy/perfume/spa day. Stop denying yourself what you truly deserve and give yourself permission to spend both time and money on yourself. You’ll be surprised at just how good it makes you feel.

What do you need in your life to give you an added spark? Find it. Grab hold of it with both hands and revisit it regularly.

Love your body

Contrary to popular belief, you don’t have to like what you see in the mirror to be confident in your body. Body confidence is about so much more than that.

Loving your body for what it can do, carrying and giving birth to your children or running 5k, for example. Rather than what it looks like. And showing your body the love and care it deserves by looking after it through gentle exercise and healthy eating, with several gins and slices of cake thrown in for good measure of course, is one of the best things you can do to improve your body confidence. When you feel good on the inside, you’ll instantly feel more confident.

And remember body confidence is about more than wearing a swimsuit.
